![]() The major contribution, in fact, of this excellent study is the demonstration that the chief characteristics of twin speech development and their differences in comparison with singleton speech are a function primarily of interpersonal schemes in which twins develop their communication. Although Savi6 notes that a comparison of twins and singletons is not her major objective, the book nonetheless adheres to the pattern indicated above. Comparisons of twin and singleton development usually results in a sharpening of the role of the environment in shaping behavior.
